Fluency

Fluency disorders are grouped into two categories: stuttering and cluttering, and typically begin before the age of five. Many times individuals with disfluencies will describe their words or sounds as "getting stuck." Most people have heard of someone who stutters or stammers, which is characterized by disruptions in the flow or fluency of speech. Treatment of fluency disorders are highly individualized as the clinician takes time to get to know the individual, how the disfluencies are impacting his/her daily life and treatment approaches that will work best for each person.
